PreK-2nd grade coaches:

Tim Green  - Tim attended North Scott High School, Class of 1996, where he wrestled and played football. Wrestling is a family tradition as Coach Green's dad, brother and now two sons all wrestle for North Scott. He started coaching K-2 in 2014, when his son started in the club. Coach Green loves sharing his joy of wrestling with the youngest wrestlers. However, he can often be seen in the corner of any North Scott wrestler no matter their age. Building positive relationships with the wrestlers to help them handle the highs and lows of wrestling is a key part of his coaching philosophy. Coach Green is also known to frequently give out nicknames to wrestlers.  

Ryan Tyrrel:   Ryan attended LeRoy High School  - Class of 2001.  He wrestled through high school and club wrestling while attending Illinois State University.  Ryan started coaching pee wee for Bloomington and Macomb Wrestling Clubs from 2002 to 2006.  He joined North Scott Wrestling club while his nephews were going through the club in 2014. Ryan has a daughter and son that are now coming through the program and  he plans to stay coaching whether they stay with it or not.  Wrestling sets the foundations for individual contributions while building team participation that can be used throughout life.  It is my privilege to continue to introduce kids to this fun and structured environment of wrestling. 

Ben Parsons - Ben was born in August of 1982 and attended Central High School in Davenport - Class of 2000. Ben competed in wrestling, grappling, jujitsu, and professional MMA until 2014. Ben has been coaching wrestling for the last four years.  He has a daughter who wrestles for the high school team and two boys who wrestle for the youth club. Ben cannot wait for the season to start!  Let’s go!!!



Andrew Caruso – Andrew was born in August of 1985 and attended Freeport High School - Class of 2004. Andrew participated in wrestling in Junior High School. Andrew has been coaching wrestling for the last three years. He has a son who wrestles in the North Scott Youth Wrestling Club and a daughter who will start wrestling next season. Andrew is looking forward to the next wrestling season. North Scott Wrestling is more than a sport, it is a family.

Chad Matthaidess –Chad graduated from Crestland High School in Early, Iowa, where he participated in football, basketball, baseball and track. Chad has coached various sports for 32 years and started coaching wrestling when his son, Jake, was in JH wrestling.  Jake wrestled for North Scott from Kindergarten through high school. Chad's youngest son Jaden is currently in the youth wrestling program. Chad is currently a wrestling coach for the youth club, junior high and part time for high school along with coaching JH football, JH track and LL, LBC and LLWS baseball teams. He also has two daughters who were involved in NS sports and dance. Chad's passion in life is coaching and he loves to help all kids find their love of sports.
 

Nick Harper – Nick was born in January of 1989. He attended Pleasant Valley High School, but ended up transferring and graduating from Davenport Assumption in 2007. During his time at both schools, Nick lettered in multiple sports as early as freshman year. His son Miles brought Nick back into wrestling when he excitedly decided he wanted to try the club out in kindergarten. Coach Harper could not be more proud of the kids that have come out of the wrestling club and the long-lasting bonds formed over the years with many different people from the community and wrestling community as a whole. Mike Matheson - Mike has been coaching with the wrestling club since his son Max was in kindergarten. Max is now a seventh grader. Mike wrestled at Davenport North a looong time ago and  was a two-time state qualifier and a place winner.   He really enjoy coaching the kids and being involved in such a wonderful club.

Nick Rasso - Nick was born in February of 1993 and graduated from Davenport Central in 2011. He was involved in wrestling, football, and baseball during his time there. For the past two years, Nick has been coaching wrestling. He also has a son who wrestles in the North Scott Youth Wrestling Program.
